Rangsdorfer See and forest
Going south to this beautiful lake, a 1920´s entertainment hotspot.
Description
This route of ± 40 km takes us from our meeting point in central Berlin, through an incredibly green and carfree corridor through Neukölln, by some of the district’s biggest treasures. Reaching the city border, we bike along some beautiful parts of the Mauerweg, continuing to the peaceful towns of Mahlow and Blankenfelde before reaching Rangsdorfer forest and lake. Here you can get lunch, relax and swim (weather permitting) at your leisure. From there Rangsdorf station is just 5 minutes away, where you can take back the train to Berlin with your bike. Those who are up for it, can join riding back to Berlin without stops on a somewhat higher pace for another ± 35 km Among many other places, we will stop by: > Tempelhof, the former airport and current city park > Sri Mayurapathy, Berlin´s most colorful Hindu temple > Hüfeisensiedlung, an iconic 1920´s housing settlement > Schloss Britz, a hidden medieval knights´ estate > Beautiful parts of the Mauerweg along the former Wall With a lunch break on the way, we'll arrive at Rangsdorf station around 16:00, where the tour officially ends. From here you can travel back with your bike by S/U-bahn or train, or bike back for another ± 35 km. Also you're free to enjoy the beautiful nature a bit more, go swim if the weather invites, and return to Berlin by train / Sbahn at your leisure. We'd like to offer this tour on a sliding scale, so that everyone can join: The normal contribution is 25 euro, but depending on your financial situation, we provide the option of contributing either 35 or 15 euro as well. If any of this is too much of a financial burden for you to join, please reach out and we can look for a solution together.
