Liepnitzsee and Barnim forest reserve
To the region's most beautiful lake via Panke, Schönow & Waldsiedlung
Description
This tour takes us to the incredibly beautiful Liepnitzsee with its crystal clear turquoise water, in the middle of a large forest reserve. At this former favourite lake of the DDR's political elite just outside of Berlin, you can just imagine yourself on an exotic holiday! It will take us ± 45 km to bike to Liepnitzsee, stopping by impressive sights such as: >> Mauerpark and the location where the Berlin Wall fell >> The residential area of East-Germany´s communist leaders >> Prussian palace Schloss Schönhausen >> The Karower and Bogen-lakes and more of Barnim nature reserve >> Forest settlement of the communist leaders in Wandlitz With a lunch break on the way, we'll arrive at Liepnitzsee around 16:00, where the tour officially ends. From here you can travel back with your bike by S-bahn or train from a nearby station, or bike back for another ± 40km. Also you're free to enjoy the beautiful nature a bit more, go swim if the weather invites, and return to Berlin by train / Sbahn at your leisure. We'd like to offer this tour on a sliding scale, so that everyone can join: The normal contribution is 25 euro, but depending on your financial situation, we provide the option of contributing either 35 or 15 euro as well.
