Köpenick and Müggelsee
Along the Spree river to the wonderful south east of Berlin
Description
This route takes us southeast from our meeting point in Berlin's centre, through Treptower park and Plänterwald forest, further along the Spree river to the beautiful old town of Köpenick. After lunch by the water, we will continue on the wonderful bike route along lake Müggelsee, by the cute canals of Neu Venedig to the end point Erkner after ± 45 km. of biking. Among many other places, we will stop by: > The impressive Soviet War memorial Treptower Park > Abandoned theme park Spreepark Plänterwald > Berlin´s only originally Baroque castle, Schloss Köpenick > The quaint old town of Köpenick with its famous Captain > The canal towns of Neu Venedig and Erkner With a lunch break on the way, we'll arrive at Erkner station around 16:00, where the tour officially ends. From here you can travel back with your bike by S/U-bahn or train, or bike back for another ± 35 km. Also you're free to enjoy the beautiful nature a bit more, go swim if the weather invites, and return to Berlin by train / Sbahn at your leisure. We'd like to offer this tour on a sliding scale, so that everyone can join: The normal contribution is 25 euro, but depending on your financial situation, we provide the option of contributing either 35 or 15 euro as well. If any of this is too much of a financial burden for you to join, please reach out and we can look for a solution together.
